Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's life includes football scholarships, family involvement and involvement in the community. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at their farm in Eufala. The Selmons were also among the three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. All three became All-America. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the United States by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. In his three years as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the university of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during his college years. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing with Tampa's Buccaneers. 3 times he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. He began his career in 1988. began working as an Account Relation Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the top 10 young men in the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He played for the team of 1975. He joined the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
